bleak is a project borne of a desire to develop sounds and noises; an outlet of pure sonic exploration. Improvised performances lead way to peculiar pieces of music that draw upon ambient, drone, noise, post-rock and Avant Garde.
Patrick and Jonathan spent the first half of 2021 regurgitating experimental pieces between themselves, which resulted in the body of music that comprises their debut album, "May We Roam". An album that spends half an hour exploring the roots of bleak, before traversing a 26 minute journey, entitled "The Beckoning Road", the albums arcane centre piece. This track is about not knowing what lies ahead, but feeling the pull of the mysterious unknown; treading the freshly laid path to it's, as yet, uncharted ground, very much the inspiration at the core of bleak.
The recording of this album has been a massive release of energy for the two founding musicians of bleak, since their love of music that strives to refuse the confines of genre and expectation have been a constant inspiration and motivator throughout their lives. To let free the gnarly beast that is "May We Roam" opens the door to a whole new world of creation and imagination, paving the way for many more idiosyncratic explorations.
So let go of all that binds you and pepare yourself for a walk through the unforgiving wilderness that weaves through bleak's first display of experimentation.
We are a vessel for open ears and open minds, and we welcome you to make this journey with us.

One of the most infectious synth pop albums I’ve heard in a long time, and it’s damn near impossible to pick a favorite song. Castles In Space is becoming one of my go-to record labels for electronic music. Erick Medeiros
Polish composer Stefan Weglowski created this absorbing, unsettling, atmospheric set for an art exhibition by Bartek Arobal Kociemba. Bandcamp New & Notable Jan 21, 2020
I was so looking forward to this lp and they did not disappoint and just keep setting the bar higher with each new release. They have a unique sound which hooks me in every time. It's hard to pick out an individual track but Sestriere is a real ear worm Rupert Boddington
